IPL 2025: CSK vs MI Match - 3 – Match Highlights & Key Performances

IPL 2025 Match 3: Chennai Super Kings Triumph Over Mumbai Indians in a Nail-Biting Contest

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 saw another high-intensity battle as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locked horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 23, 2025. The long-standing rivalry once again thrilled fans, with CSK emerging victorious by 4 wickets.

First Innings: Mumbai Indians’ Early Collapse and Middle-Order Resistance

CSK won the toss and opted to bowl first. MI’s innings started disastrously as Rohit Sharma fell for a golden duck, followed by Ryan Rickelton (13 runs), both victims of Khaleel Ahmed’s fiery pace.

MI's top order continued to struggle when Will Jacks (11) was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin, reducing them to 36/3 within 4.4 overs. Just when MI seemed in trouble, a 51-run stand between Suryakumar Yadav (29) and Tilak Varma (31) brought some stability. However, the partnership was cut short as Noor Ahmad’s clever spin led to Suryakumar’s dismissal, thanks to a lightning-quick MS Dhoni stumping.

The middle order faltered further as Robin Minz (3) and Tilak Varma (31) fell to Noor Ahmad in quick succession. A late surge from Naman Dhir (17 off 12) and Mitchell Santner (11 off 13) provided some momentum. However, the real boost came from Deepak Chahar’s power-hitting—28 off 15 balls, propelling MI to a competitive total of 155/9 in 20 overs.

Gaikwad played aggressively, smashing 53 off 26 balls, before being dismissed by Vignesh Puthur in the 12th over.

CSK’s middle order stuttered as Shivam Dube, Deepak Hooda, and Sam Curran fell cheaply. Despite the setbacks, Ravindra Jadeja and Rachin Ravindra kept the scoreboard ticking, inching closer to the target.

Rachin Ravindra reached his half-century off 42 balls, showing composure under pressure. With 4 runs needed in the final over, he sealed the win with a massive six, finishing unbeaten on 65 off 42 balls.
